Matthew Lewis is speaking out about the Harry Potter films!
In a new interview, the 31-year-old actor shared why it’s hard for him to re-watch the super popular film series, that spanned much of his youth.
“I find it quite difficult when too much of me starts to come through in a character,†he told the New York Times. “It’s easier when I can play someone completely different, like a police officer in London or someone who’s wealthy.â€
“At times it’s painful how much of me there is in Neville,†Matthew said of the Harry Potter films. “When I’m watching, I’m like, ‘That’s not Neville; that’s you.’â€
He did add, though, that there are worse things to be remembered by than Harry Potter.
“If there’s something people remember you by, there are worse things than the Harry Potter franchise,†he shared. “It opened so many doors for me when I otherwise wouldn’t even have gotten in the room.â€
Matthew has had quite the transformation since the first film came out in 2001, and he even showed off his ripped body back in 2015.

Seen in the photos are Tom, Emma Watson, Evanna Lynch, Bonnie Wright, and Matthew Lewis. Looks like Tom got outnumbered with a group of Gryffindors!
Emma also shared a pic on her page, writing, “Merry Christmas from us ☺︔

Tom Felton and Matthew Lewis caught up over the weekend in Los Angeles and threw a little Harry Potter fun into their Instagrams they shared with fans.
In one of the pics, Tom is holding up a Slytherin flag or cloth, and Matthew, a Gryffindor at heart, is just not having it.
“Take your Slytherin paws off me, you damn dirty ape!” Matthew wrote.
Tom captioned his additional pic: “See how close he was to converting…. @mattdavelewis #gryffindork.”
Should we remind Tom that his true house was Gryffindor, too? Although, Matthew was sorted to Hufflepuff…

Matthew and Angela tied the knot in a beautiful destination wedding on Monday and they took to Instagram to share a photo from the occasion.

“Not only did I miss @ArcticMonkeys in LA but they were performing in Italy at the same time we were there and my wife made me get married instead. Fuming,” Matthew joked on Twitter.

Since the end of the Harry Potter film franchise in 2011, Tom, Emma and Matthew have gone on to have successful careers in film.
Emma most recently starred as Belle in Beauty and the Beast and is very active in the #MeToo and #HeForShe movements.
Meanwhile, Tom‘s recent project, Ophelia, just debuted, and Matt is currently starring in television series, Nutritiously Nicola.
