'Monster High' To Get New Live Action Movie Musical & New Animated Series!

Monster High is coming back to our TV screens!

The hit doll franchise is making a comeback with a brand new animated series AND a live action TV movie musical on Nickelodeon.

The new animated series follows fan-favorite characters Clawdeen Wolf, Draculaura, and Frankie Stein as they navigate the hilarity of high school in the hallowed halls of Monster High. It will premiere on Nickelodeon platforms globally in 2022.

This will also be the first time that Monster High gets the live action treatment with the upcoming movie musical, and it will also premiere in 2022.

“Monster High’s strong message of inclusivity is more relevant than ever,” Fred Soulie, General Manager, Mattel Television, said in a statement. “Nickelodeon shares our passion for the brand and its purpose having worked on the franchise when it first launched more than a decade ago. They are the ideal partners to bring these beloved characters and their stories to life through episodic television and the live-action television movie.”

“These classic monsters have always captured kids’ imaginations and we are so excited and proud to welcome Monster High to our brand for a new generation of kids,” Ramsey Naito, President of Nickelodeon Animation, added. “We have terrific partners on board at Mattel to create original content in different formats, and, with the expertise of the Nick creative team helmed by Claudia Spinelli on the animation development side, and Zack Olin and Shauna Phelan on the live-action side, we can’t wait to showcase the comedy and adventure of these characters as they defy expectations and take on the world.”

Monster High, which first came out in 2010, has not only produced a super popular line of dolls, but it has also spawned video games, books, numerous animated films and two animated series. It also spawned the spinoff, Ever After High!

Inspired by the “Perfect Illusion” singer, the doll is named Zomby Gaga, the newest ghoul added to the gang and will be available for pre-order starting on Monday, October 17th @ 9AM EST at select retailers for $29.99.

The doll launch coincides with a donation from Monster High to Born This Way Foundation to continue to further their joint mission of empowering young people to create a kinder and braver world. Zomby Gaga was designed by Lady Gaga‘s sister Natali Germanotta and inspired by one of her iconic looks in her “Born This Way” video.

“My sister and I came up with the creative concept for Monster High by looking back at some of her best and most inspiring characters,” Natali shared. “This Zomby Gaga doll is brave, strong and BORN THIS WAY – which shows through in everything from her clothes, her bio and her music video. It has been incredible to work with Mattel and their amazing team and we cannot wait to share our collaboration!”

The Born This Way Foundation and Monster High joined forces last October to inspire empowerment and acceptance. To celebrate the launch of the doll, fans are encouraged to join the #KindMonsters movement, whose goal is to encourage fans to commit to contributing to a kinder, more accepting and braver world.
