Olivia Holt is dishing on the female representation on her new series Cruel Summer!

The 23-year-old actress shared in a new interview what it was like working with executive producer Jessica Biel on the Freeform show.

“Jessica was so involved. She’s incredible and not just as a producer, but as a human being,” Olivia told ET Canada. “She was just so collaborative, and having a producer like that changes everything.”

“Something that really drew me in was the female representation of the two female leads to the female creatives behind this project,” she added about the female representation to TV Guide. “I definitely think that we need more of that. I know that when I was a kid I didn’t really see a lot of that on screen. I’m very grateful to be a part of this.”

Olivia Holt wears a strapless LBD to the premiere screening of her new Freeform series Cruel Summer held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on Thursday night (April 15) in Beverly Hills, Calif.

The 23-year-old actress and singer was joined by a number of her co-stars at the event, where they had socially distant viewing from different balconies.

Also in attendance were Chiara Aurelia, Harley Quinn Smith, Allius Barnes, Blake Lee, Michael Landes, Brooklyn Sudano, Sarah Drew and Andrea Anders.

Notably missing was Froy Gutierrez, who plays Jamie in the series. He’s currently back in London, where he was spotted out earlier this week with Richard Madden.

The thrilling new series stars Olivia Holt, Chiara Aurelia, Michael Landes, Froy Gutierrez, Harley Quinn Smith, Allius Barnes, Blake Lee and Brooklyn Sudano, and new clips and images were just released.

Here’s a synopsis: The unconventional drama takes place over three summers in the 90s when a beautiful and popular teen goes missing, and a seemingly unrelated girl transforms from a sweet and awkward outlier to the most popular girl in town, eventually becoming the most despised person in America. Each episode is told from alternating POVs.

The new show is executive produced by Jessica Biel and marks Olivia‘s return to the network following Marvel’s Cloak and Dagger.

This week’s New Music Friday is short and sweet, but it does not disappoint.

Olivia Holt just released her new song “love on you,” which actually debuted on Thursday (April 1).

“love on you 🌹link in bio wrote this one with these brilliant humans, @bekahnovi @solly.not.solly and @louisschoorl xxxx,” she shared on Instagram.

This is Olivia‘s latest release, following “Do You Miss Me” in February. She will also soon be returning to television in the new Freeform series Cruel Summer. Check out a teaser and find out more info here!

Chance Perez has released his first song, “BAD,” a collaboration with Deerock and Wyle. This is his first song since his band In Real Life split at the beginning of 2021.

The upcoming Freeform series Cruel Summer has just been given a premiere date!

The new psychological mystery, from executive producer Jessica Biel, will have a two-hour premiere event on Tuesday, April 20th at 9pm ET/PT.

Cruel Summer follows two young women: Kate Wallis (Olivia Holt), the popular girl with a charmed life who one day goes missing, and Jeanette Turner (Chiara Aurelia), the nerdy wannabe who is accused of being connected to Kate’s disappearance. All signs point to Jeanette’s guilt, but is Kate really who she seems to be? Set over three summers and told through shifting points of view, the series challenges perception and follows how one girl can go from being a sweet outlier to the most despised person in America.

Also starring in the new series are Michael Landes, Froy Gutierrez, Harley Quinn Smith, Allius Barnes, Blake Lee and Brooklyn Sudano.

Olivia Holt is dishing about stepping away from acting for a little while.

The 23-year-old actress and singer took some time off from acting after her Freeform series Cloak & Dagger ended in May 2019.

“I think I definitely needed some sort of pause/a reset,” Olivia told Glamaholic magazine. “I needed to take a breather but I don’t want to take a break ever again [laughs]. I love what I do so much, and I’ve been saying, ‘if quarantine taught me anything it’s that I miss what I do so much.’”

On the acting side, Olivia is set to return to television in a brand new series called Cruel Summer, where she’ll head back to Freeform.

“I’m very excited to work on this show, lots of very incredible, talented people are a part of this project!” she said. “It’s based in the 90s which is my favorite era, it’s a psychological thriller, and I’m so excited for everybody to watch it.”

She also dished on her music career, and what her upcoming releases will be like. Check out her latest single “Love U Again”!

“It all very much falls in line with the music I’ve been putting out, and with this chapter of my life,” Olivia shared. “I have nearly spent the last year and a half – two years working on music and making it a mission of mine. It’s like a piece of art that I put together. Some of that will be released this year, and I’m very excited about it.”

Olivia Holt gets in the driver’s seat in the new music video for her latest song with R3HAB, “Love U Again“!

The 23-year-old’s beautiful new visual comes just two weeks after the track was released.

Olivia recently opened up about the next chapter in her music career.

“I really want this next chapter and era of music for me as an artist to really fall in line with the stories that happened in my life, whether they’re things that I have experience with, things that I want to experience, or things that I’m experiencing in that moment,” she told Elite Daily.

“When I look back on all the years that I’ve been working on music, I feel like I’ve learned so much and gained so much knowledge about the music industry,” Olivia added. “The last year and a half, I’ve stepped into the world of songwriting, which has been such a dream. I’ve learned from so many incredible talented songwriters and artists, and worked with so many awesome producers … Now I feel more prepared than ever to put out music and I feel so confident about the music that I’ve been making.”

In other exciting music news for Olivia, it was recently announced that she has signed with 100 Management for her music career.

“We are absolutely delighted to be working with Olivia and the team at Hollywood Records. Olivia’s a triple-threat artist already on her way to becoming a global superstar. She has a clear vision of what she wants to achieve and the music to get her there,” founder Luke Mitzman said in a statement.
