Rachel Skarsten Teases Her 'Sane & Completely Insane' Character on 'Batwoman'

We’re so happy that Rachel Skarsten is returning to our screens on The CW.

During the CW Upfronts earlier this month, the actress opened up about her new role in Batwoman, where she plays Alice, the joker villain to Batwoman (Ruby Rose) and leader of her Lewis Carroll–inspired Wonderland Gang.

“She has a very complex relationship with Batwoman,” Rachel teased about her character on the new series, adding that Alice “teeters between sane and completely insane.”

Alice, Rachel says, also has a “personal vendetta” against one certain character in the show. “She also just wants to run Gotham and bring mayhem wherever she goes.”

Rachel Skarsten Joins 'Batwoman' Cast at CW Upfronts 2019

Rachel Skarsten turns heads in her bright red suit while arriving for the 2019 CW Network Upfront held at New York City Center on Thursday (May 16) in New York.

Joined by star Ruby Rose, as well as Dougray Scott, Camrus Johnson, Meagan Tandy, Nicole Kang and Elizabeth Anweis, the cast met up to promote their new show, Batwoman, coming to the network this fall.

“Without getting too into it, I think it’s so relevant to now,” Ruby shared about the series hitting all the right notes. “We are telling such real stories, such grounded stories. We have such a beautiful, diverse cast. We have the relationships within the cast, or characters rather—and in real life—the arcs are so true and layered and difficult and tricky in some instances and beautiful in other instances. But they’re complicated and they’re real…”

She continues, “I think that’s one of the things that is really important to see, not just like a flawless perfect superhero—which doesn’t exist anyway—but I mean the idea of that.”

“There’s a lot in there that I think viewers can watch at any age group and find people to identify with and get solace out of that or inspiration or just feel like they’re not the only person that’s like that and that’s super important.”

Batwoman will air Sundays this fall on The CW.

The leader of her Lewis Carroll–inspired Wonderland Gang, she swings unpredictably between maniacal and charming, and has made it her mission to undermine Gotham’s sense of security.

Adelaide Kane Plays 20 Questions With 'Reign' Co-Star & BFF Rachel Skarsten

Mary, Queen of Scots and Queen Elizabeth I…we mean, Adelaide Kane and Rachel Skarsten reunited for the best video ever this week.

Adelaide updated her new YouTube channel with a cute 20 Questions video where Rachel was the one asking the questions, and we were living for all of her reactions to Adelaide‘s answers.

Through the questions, Adelaide revealed her favorite Reign memory (feels!), what she would do to Rachel’s hair if she could, and her spirit animal.

At first Adelaide says Ranma, her cat, is her spirit animal, but then says a pine marten, which if you don’t know, is a slender-bodied weasel about the size of a mink with relatively large rounded ears, short limbs, and a bushy tail.
