Scooter Braun Breaks Social Media Silence on Taylor Swift Feud to Try & Make Peace

Scooter Braun is speaking out on social media for the very first time about the Taylor Swift controversy and he has written her a lengthy open letter in which he is trying to make peace.

The music manager, who bought Taylor‘s former label Big Machine over the summer and now owns the rights to her master recordings, says that he didn’t plan on speaking out until his family began receiving death threats, which are seemingly from the singer’s fans.

Scooter says that he has been trying to get in touch with Taylor ever since her first open letter five months ago, but he hasn’t been able to get a hold of her. He wrote, “It almost feels as if you have no interest in ever resolving the conflict. At this point with safety becoming a concern I have no choice other than to publicly ask for us to come together and try to find a resolution. I have tried repeatedly through your representatives to achieve a solution but unfortunately here we are. This game of telephone isn’t working.”

In the letter, Scooter also confirmed that he believes Taylor should be able to perform her music at the AMAs.

Scooter Braun Wants to Talk to Taylor Swift Instead of Handling Things on Social Media

Scooter Braun Wants to Talk to Taylor Swift Instead of Handling Things on Social Media

It has been almost five months since the feud between Taylor Swift and new partners Scooter Braun and Scott Borchetta began and now Braun is addressing the controversy publicly for the very first time.

Scooter purchased Taylor‘s former record label Big Machine, which was launched by Scott, over the summer. After the purchase, Taylor wrote an open letter in which she expressed that she has never been a fan of Scooter as she felt bullied by him and his client Justin Bieber.

The feud between Taylor, Scooter, and Scott continued last week when she told fans that the label was blocking her from performing old songs at the 2019 American Music Awards. After her fans went on attack-mode, Big Machine released a statement saying that an agreement was reached so that Taylor could perform the old songs.

Scooter finally spoke out, without even saying Taylor‘s name, during the 2019 Entertainment Industry Conference, co-sponsored by Variety and the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce. He basically made it known that he wants to sit down with the singer and have a conversation.

“I haven’t talked about this in six months. Not once. I haven’t made a statement about it,” he said (via Variety). “When there’s a lot of things being said and a lot of different opinions, yet the principals haven’t had a chance to speak to each other, there’s a lot of confusion. I’m not going to go into details here, because it’s just not my style. I just think we live in a time of toxic division, and of people thinking that social media is the appropriate place to air out on each other and not have conversations. And I don’t like politicians doing it. I don’t like anybody doing it, and if that means that I’ve got to be the bad guy longer, I’ll be the bad guy longer, but I’m not going to participate.”

Big Machine's New Statement About AMAs Was Not Approved by Dick Clark Productions

Big Machine's New Statement About AMAs Was Not Approved by Dick Clark Productions

The plot is thickening in the drama between Taylor Swift and Big Machine Label Group as we inch closer and closer to the American Music Awards, where Tay is being honored with the Artist of the Decade Award.

The 29-year-old singer said last week that her former label was blocking her from performing her old music at the AMAs on November 24.

After several days of claims being made from both sides of the feud, Big Machine released what was believed to be a joint statement between them and Dick Clark Productions. The statement noted, “The Big Machine Label Group and Dick Clark Productions announce that they have come to terms on a licensing agreement that approves their artists’ performances to stream post show and for re-broadcast on mutually approved platforms.”

Now, the production company behind the AMAs says they have nothing to do with this statement.

Taylor Swift' AMAs Performance Has Been Approved by Big Machine

Taylor Swift' AMAs Performance Has Been Approved by Big Machine

We’re very happy to report that Taylor Swift will be able to perform her old songs during her Artist of the Decade performance at the 2019 American Music Awards!

The 29-year-old singer asked fans to speak out on her behalf after she says her old label was blocking her from singing old music at the awards show.

If you missed the controversy last week, here’s a quick recap: Taylor released an open letter claiming that her former label, Big Machine, was blocking her from performing her old songs during her Artist of the Decade performance at the AMAs. The label then released a statement denying the claims and then the singer’s rep spoke out to reveal the truth.

A new statement from Big Machine and the AMAs’ producers Dick Clark Productions was just released.

“The Big Machine Label Group and Dick Clark Productions announce that they have come to terms on a licensing agreement that approves their artists’ performances to stream post show and for re-broadcast on mutually approved platforms,” the statement read. “This includes the upcoming American Music Awards performances. It should be noted that recording artists do not need label approval for live performances on television or any other live media. Record label approval is only needed for contracted artists’ audio and visual recordings and in determining how those works are distributed.”

Justin Bieber Seems to Support Scooter Braun Again Amid Taylor Swift AMAs Battle

It looks like Justin Bieber is once again taking Scooter Braun‘s side in his manager’s ongoing battle with Taylor Swift over whether she’s allowed to perform her old songs during the American Music Awards or not.

The 25-year-old “Sorry” pop star posted a screenshot on his Instagram Story on Friday (November 15).

The screenshot is of a TMZ article, called “Taylor Swift Free To Play All Her Hits During AMAs … Big Machine Can’t Stop Her.”

In the article, Big Machine claims that “Taylor Swift can 100% perform all of her catalog, past and present, on the AMAs.”

This is in direct opposition to what Taylor Swift‘s publicist, Tree Paine, said in a statement earlier in the day, claiming that Scott “flatly denied the request.”

This also isn’t the first time Justin defended his manager in his ongoing dispute with Taylor.

Gigi Hadid, Halsey, & More Celebs Support Taylor Swift Amid Battle for Her Music

Gigi Hadid, Halsey, & More Celebs Support Taylor Swift Amid Battle for Her Music

If you want to see Taylor Swift perform her old songs at the 2019 American Music Awards, you’re going to have to speak out and there are many celebs who are doing just that.

The 29-year-old singer is trying to get the rights to perform her own music live as she says that Scooter Braun and Scott Borchetta are not allowing her to do so unless she agrees to their conditions. (If you didn’t know, they own the master recordings for her first six albums.)

Taylor says that the men are not letting her perform her old songs at the upcoming AMAs and they won’t let her use old performance footage in a planned Netflix documentary.

“Please let Scott Borchetta and Scooter Braun know how you fell about this,” Taylor wrote in an open letter posted to social media on Thursday (November 14). “Scooter also manages several artists who I really believe care about other artists and their work. Please ask them for help with this – I’m hoping that maybe they can talk some sense into the men who are exercising tyrannical control over someone who just wants to play the music she wrote.”

Taylor‘s friends like Gigi Hadid and Halsey are among the stars who have shown support so far on social media. Read more tweets below!
