Taylor said she learned about the news with the rest of the world and TMZ then reported that Taylor‘s dad Scott Swift is on the board of directors of Big Machine Label Group and “has known about the deal for at least a week.”
Scooter‘s wife Yael also wrote on Instagram and said that Taylor‘s “dad is a shareholder and was notified, and Borchetta personally told you before this came out. So no, you didn’t find out with the world.”
Now, Taylor‘s rep is denying that Scott called her in advance and clears up a report about her dad’s involvement. More Here! »
The 29-year-old musician was signed to the label for most of her career, before leaving and signing with Universal Music Group in November 2018.
It was announced on Sunday morning (June 30) that Scooter had bought the label group for $300 million, which means that he would now own all of Taylor‘s master recordings from all of her past music.
“Some fun facts about today’s news: I learned about Scooter Braun’s purchase of my masters as it was announced to the world. All I could think about was the incessant, manipulative bullying I’ve received at his hands for years,” Taylor wrote on Tumblr.
“This is my worst case scenario. This is what happens when you sign a deal at fifteen to someone for whom the term ‘loyalty’ is clearly just a contractual concept. And when that man says ‘Music has value’, he means its value is beholden to men who had no part in creating it,” she added.
“Thankfully, I am now signed to a label that believes I should own anything I create. Thankfully, I left my past in Scott’s hands and not my future. And hopefully, young artists or kids with musical dreams will read this and learn about how to better protect themselves in a negotiation. You deserve to own the art you make,” Taylor concluded her long post.

Justin Bieber might be just the most hilarious gift giver ever!
According to The Blast, the 25-year-old musician gifted manager Scooter Braun with a picture – of him!
Justin was in attendance at Scooter‘s 38th birthday party on Tuesday night (June 18) at the San Vicente Bungalows in West Hollywood, Calif., and he came in tow with a giant framed shirtless pic of himself.
The picture shows Justin in his Calvin Klein undies with the caption, “Happy Birthday Scooter … You’re welcome I’m awesome.”
LOL!
A source at the party shared that the gift was very “personal between” the two.
Can you believe Justin Bieber‘s “One Time” was released 10 years ago today?
The “Love Yourself” crooner’s manager Scooter Braun reflected on the milestone on Instagram on Saturday (May 18).
“10 years ago today we launched the first single for this young kid @justinbieber that I believed could change the game,” Scooterwrote. “We literally had to make the song ourselves outside of our label budget (which wasn’t even open) and my friend @trickystewart made the song with us as a favor. We put it out with no plan other than let’s hit the road with this guy @ryangood24 that @usher brought on and my friend @kennyhamilton who worked at T-Mobile in atl. We used YouTube and social media (never been done before at that time) to try and prove everyone wrong.”
“@allisonjamiekaye and I met this wild man @dankanter who might be one of the top 438 guitar players from Canada and added him to the team 😂,” Scooter continued. “We got a dj named @djtayjames off the college scene and off we went. @pattiemallette we were all so young but you trusted my vision for your boy and I thank you and honor you for that. 10 years later our lives have changed and that floppy haired kid has become a legend.”
“But beyond all his achievements since …I’m proud of the young man he has become,” Scooter added. “His heart for others is incredible and his growth at such a young age is admired. We have come so far in 10 years and so many other hits have happened (literally one right now with @teddysphotos at the top of the global charts) both in music and in life. But one thing has remained constant… @justinbieber is my family and I’m proud of him and I love him like family. #onetime #10years – watch what we do the next 10 years ðŸ˜.”
“GUYS!!!!!!! Dreams came true today for me. I officially have a NEW MANAGER!!! And not just any new manager but the one and only @scooterbraun!!!!” Demi captioned the below photo. “Couldn’t be happier, inspired and excited to begin this next chapter with you Scooter!!! Thank you for believing in me and for being apart of this new journey. Let’s DO THIS!!!!!! 🖊📄🎉”
Demi used to work with Philymack, who also represents the Jonas Brothers.
“Justin Bieber has done a lot of stupid things in his past but what he has also done is apologize and own those mistakes. This most recent claim against him is completely false and a fabrication from a man who tried to push for money for the last several years,” Scooter first tweeted.
In the new lawsuit, Rodney Tobias Cannon claims that Justin “suddenly became irate” after he took a picture with the singer and “aggressively threatening harm to [Cannon] if the photograph was not deleted.”
He also claims that Justin made “threatening communications made in public in front of a number of people included the use of racial epithets.â€
Scooter went on to slam the “disgusting” claims saying that this is something they’ve been fighting for years.
“It is disgusting to me to see this man lie and try to bring race into a situation to scare us into a payment again,” Scooter continued. “He never said these things before because they never happened. This is a smear tactic to get money and it’s gross.”

The longtime talent manager recently revealed that back when just went through a rough patch a few years ago, he felt like he failed him.
“It was worse than people realized. I failed him day after day. We were living in hell because he was in such a dark place,” Scooter told the WSJ.
He added, “Some of the biggest people in the industry, people invested in Justin‘s career, told me, ‘It’s over. Focus on something else. That kid is done.’ I made a promise to him when he was 13 that I would never give up on him. I plan on keeping that promise.”
“I think he’s seen the worst of himself, and to watch him rise out of it was amazing,” Scooter noted.
We’re so glad Scooter didn’t give up on Justin and he was able to prove everyone wrong!
