Shawn Mendes Was Afraid of Camila Cabello Rejecting Him, But Is Now Falling More In Love

Shawn Mendes is opening up once again about his love for Camila Cabello!

The 22-year-old Wonder musician dished that he has fallen even more in love with her through quarantine, but before they started dating, he was afraid that she would reject him.

“It takes a lot of courage to tell the woman that you love that you love her,” Shawn told Access Hollywood. “I had five years of fear of getting rejected by her that just stopped me from doing it every time — or just confidence. I think, you know, it just took a lot. It took a long time of preparing. I mean, I had a five-year warmup to finally be able to tell her how I felt!”

During another interview, Shawn gushed that he’s been falling more and more in love with her throughout this year.

“I remember in those first few months of being with her in Miami, and being you know… I’ve always seen, to get mushy on you guys, but I’ve always seen her like really done up, like we’re in New York City, we’re in LA, we’re working, there’s a lot going on, and more of the time it was like a lot was going on,” he told Zach Sang. “But now, it’s been a couple weeks, and I’m seeing her in her like very natural Miami way, and I’m just falling in love so much more than I ever thought I was gonna.”

“Extreme anxiety comes with that, especially for someone like me who was like, ‘No, you’re open, you got this. It doesn’t matter, you’re going to be fine no matter what. Things happen for a reason,’” he continued. “Yeah, you can believe things happen for a reason but then when you really love someone, and you feel like maybe they would leave you, you don’t want to believe that things happen for a reason thing anymore, you know.”

Camila Cabello Writes Touching Post About Shawn Mendes & Being In Love

Camila Cabello has written a touching post on her Instagram account in which she talked about what she’s learned about love while in a relationship with Shawn Mendes.

The singers have been dating since summer 2019, though they’ve known each other since 2014.

“I’ve learned a lot about love with this guy. It’s not just the happy blissful moments you see in pictures and videos- When you’re in a relationship with someone, it feels like they are this mirror reflecting yourself back to you,” Camila wrote in a post on Instagram. “I constantly have to confront my fears, my anxieties, my insecurities, my patterns of thinking, my beliefs about life and about myself.”

“It’s not as simple as it looks in pictures sometimes. sometimes, it’s messy and uncomfortable and ugly lol. But there’s nothing like the pull, the FORCE that is love, to be the light in the darkness- to be the gravitational pull that gives you the relentless strength to be braver, wiser, and better than you were yesterday,” Camila continued. “It’s so instinctive for us to love, even if our minds try to protect us from it sometimes, but our nature as humans is to love. And to be in love means to choose that person over and over again, to go through the messy stuff with. And that’s way more beautiful and raw and real than perfection.”

Camila concluded, “I’m all for being vulnerable on social media because I think only the neatness and perfection of life is shown on here; and that can make us all feel extra lonely and weird! So raise your glass to the messiness and weirdness of being human and the miracle. And the easiness. And the instinct. And the relentless force that is love.”

Just last week, Shawn opened up about “truly being in love” with Camila.

Camila Cabello Helped Shawn Mendes With Body Confidence & Song Ideas

Shawn Mendes reveals that his body confidence came at the help of girlfriend Camila Cabello.

The 22-year-old musician opened up in the new January/February 2021 issue of British GQ magazine.

“Some days I would have three hours of sleep, [because] I’d get up two hours early just to be able to work out”, he said.

Shawn shared that seeing Camila be “so strong, so clear and confident with her [body] and so articulate and empathetic about other people’s, and it really changed my view of mine. It really changed my life.”

He added that “taking that extra few hours of sleep, instead of waking up to pump iron, is a better choice sometimes.”

Shawn also shared that the pandemic has helped him “become more internal and get deeper inside of myself,” and that he would run ideas by Camila.

“You have a choice to either open up and be very vulnerable or to be locked down and not show her anything,” he told the mag. “There are so many instances during making an album when you want to drop an idea because it’s stupid or it’s not sounding great. And it does! It sounds stupid and doesn’t sound great for some weeks. But then it comes out on the other end and ends up being everything you wanted it to be, and you need a support system. And I had support from her, which was different from any support I’ve ever felt before.”

Shawn Mendes Is Opening Up About Learning To Love Himself

Shawn Mendes is dishing on learning to love himself in a recent interview.

The 22-year-old “Monster” singer opened up about how doing that benefited his relationship with his girlfriend Camila Cabello.

“You can not be the best version of a son or a brother or a boyfriend or a friend to anybody if you’re not constantly there for you, and you’re watching out for you, and you’re checking in on your heart and your space and your energy,” Shawn told Apple Music.

“And the closer you get to that clarity and that freedom within you, the more space you have for everybody else in your life,” he continued. “And I think that that was something that really happened over that period too, especially with Camila and I, is that we started giving ourselves a lot more time, which then allowed us to give everything more time and space, if that makes sense.”
