“I did a lot of the early writing and Kevin [Williamson, executive producer] did a lot of the re-writing,” executive producer Julie Plec told EW. “We were trying to figure out the show as we went and I wrote the scene where Elena says, ‘We met, and we talked, and it was epic, but then the sun came up and reality set in.’ And I remember Kevin circling it on his script and giving it a triple check. A triple check from Kevin Williamson is, ‘I love this line.’”
Then we heard Lexi (Arielle Kebbel) say it to her BFF Stefan a few episodes later.
Kevin explained, “That line became Julie‘s favorite line of the entire show. From the very very beginning, we kept saying in the writers’ room: ‘It has to be epic. We want an epic moment.’ This whole show has always been about epic moments and that was the line.”
“I Was Feeling Epic” airs on Friday, March 10 @ 8PM on The CW.
“Damon?” she says as she stands outside the coffin.
He responds, “Elena.”
Then they embrace while Stefan (Paul Wesley) tells her “welcome back.”
It’s rumored that she’s back just in time for Stefan and Caroline’s (Candice King) wedding, but at the same time, we know Katherine will be back and up to no good.
Are we sure this is Elena and not Katherine? Not for sure, but we’re hoping it’s the Delena moment we want.

Now that we know we’ll see Katherine (Nina Dobrev) back on The Vampire Diaries before the series finale, we’re taking a look back at some of our favorite KP moments from over the years.

The new promo for next week’s The Vampire Diaries is out and we’re having ourselves a wedding…but only to bring out the big bad that everyone thinks is Katherine.
Damon puts together the big plan to lure Katherine out of the darkness — throw the one party she can’t possibly pass up: Stefan and Caroline’s wedding.
But will Caroline and Stefan actually get married at all, or will this be something we’ll never ever see?

The Vampire Diaries | We’re Planning a June Wedding Trailer
The actress and singer opened up about one of the most difficult scenes for her to shoot throughout the series.
“There are moments where I felt bizarre parallels between the character and my own journey,” she revealed. “I learned a lot about myself playing her. The emotional scenes are never easy.”
Kat adds, “The first scene that jolted me was the Grams death scene in season 1. Unfortunately, I had buried my real grandmother the day before.”
We couldn’t even imagine this!
“It was very traumatic. And usually any major loss on the show, I had dealt with something similar in my own personal life, sans the supernatural aspect of it,” Kat says.
