Tom Felton Doesn't Want You To Compare His 'Origin' Character to Draco Malfoy

Tom Felton gets really into the game he’s playing with co-star Mika Watkins inside the Variety Studio at 2018 San Diego Comic-Con on Thursday (July 19) in San Diego, Calif.

The two Origin stars battled it out playing Mario Kart 8 Deluxe on Nintendo Switch before heading to the Pizza Hut lounge for some pizza. Tom is also pictured with Paul Wesley at the Fandom Party.

During an interview at the convention, Tom opened up about not wanting fans to compare his new character on the YouTube Red series to Draco Malfoy, who he famously played in Harry Potter.

“One was a wizard with crap parents, the other one is a petty drug dealer from California,” he shared. “I really could not line those up in any situation.”

Tom added, “I suppose they might look somewhat similar. My eyes are still the same color. Other than that, I wouldn’t really draw too much of a comparison. He’s not the friendliest person in the world, I suppose we could say that.”

He also shared his excitement for the series, which follows a group of strangers who find themselves stranded on a spacecraft bound for a distant planet.

“To see each character’s previous story, and largely speaking it’s in a different language, different setting, cultural background, really. I’ve never seen a show do that before, so I’m very excited to see how that lands for audiences.”
