Louis Tomlinson gave everyone chills during last night’s X Factor because of his connection with singer Anthony Russell.
Anthony had a second chance at the show after having to drop out last year.
“Anthony auditioned for the show a year ago… and he came in with a black eye for his first audition so he stole my heart straight away,” Louis shared on the show. “I don’t think I’ve ever seen anybody at their first audition with a black eye.”
He added, “I’ve really gotten to know you over the past year and got to know your family and I think you’re a lovely, lovely lad.”
After Anthony dropped out of the show, due to personal problems with addiction, Louis tweeted public support for him and also DMed him on Twitter and offered him some help.
Then, Anthony went to rehab for four months and they ended up forming a really close friendship.
“I wouldn’t be here in this place now if it wasn’t for Louis,” Anthony shared on stage.
After getting a standing ovation for his rendition of Avicii‘s “Wake Me Up”, Louis ran up on stage to hug him.
The 26-year-old One Direction singer is the newest addition to the judges panel of the upcoming fall season, which he confirmed on Tuesday (July 17) by attending a press conference at Somerset House in London, England.
“Gonna do a little video message tonight to talk about everything. Music is always my priority obviously! Love you all,” Louis tweeted just before the conference.

Fans were super confused over the weekend when Liam Payne started to exit the stage after his X Factor performance, doubled back, then grabbed girlfriend Cheryl Cole and walked out towards the audience.
Now, the 24-year-old “Strip That Down” singer is opening up about exactly what went down.
“Producers told me to go this way,” he revealed to The Daily Mirror, “and it looked like I was going out the front, bossed off the stage and took my missus and buggered off.”
“But that’s what I got told to do and I got so much stick for it,” he continued. “It was hilarious, storming off the stage and taking my missus.”
So Liam was just following directions! At least he can laugh about the hilarious live TV moment.
Why did Liam just walk off the stage like that to Cheryl, I thought he was going to propose ???? #XFactor
