'The Fosters' Elliot Fletcher Tells Fans He is Not Like His Character When it Comes to Hate Speech
Yesterday, a timely episode of The Fosters, “Welcome to the Jungler,” delves into an important and controversial topic: free speech vs. hate speech.
Elliot Fletcher‘s character Aaron supports free speech even if that includes hate speech, but Elliot himself does not agree with that attitude at all IRL.
“Aaron and I hold completely different viewpoints on free/hate speech,” he wrote in a note on Twitter yesterday (August 15). “I will never stand by people who are racist, homophobic, sexist, ableist, nazis/white supremacists in general.”
He then encourages his fans to “speak up,” go to rallies, and more to protect marginalized voices.
