'Legacies' Creator Julie Plec Talks Upcoming Film Noir Episode at SCAD aTVfest 2020

The cast of Legacies step out for the 2020 SCAD aTVfest on Saturday (February 29) in Atlanta, Ga.

Joining the stars of the series – Danielle Rose Russell, Jenny Boyd, Quincy Fouse, Aria Shahghasemi, Kaylee Bryant, Peyton Alex Smith, and Chris Lee – were the show’s creator and EP Julie Plec, as well as executice producer Brett Matthews.

At the festival, Julie opened up about one of the show’s upcoming episodes, which is set in film noir.

Legacies is doing its first and maybe only film noir episode, which is born out of the brilliant mind of [executive producer] Brett Matthews, who actually studied noir in film school and is a huge fan of the genre and knows it intimately,” she told EW. “We just wanted to dive into a fantasy world we hadn’t done before.”

“It was just a genre that stuck with me for a long time,” Brett added. “Actually, we had the episode broken and we didn’t know conceptually what we wanted the world to be. There were a lot of ideas on the table. There was Western, there was steampunk, there was Victorian. Film noir just became the perfect storm of producible and fit the tone of the season and that particular episode.”

The Legacies film noir episode, titled, “There’s a Place Where the Lost Things Go,” will air on March 12th on The CW!

'Legacies' Cast Talks What's Coming in Season Two of the Show at Comic-Con 2019

The ladies of Legacies look so fierce in this pic from their signing event during 2019 Comic-Con over the weekend in San Diego, Calif.

Danielle Rose Russell, Jenny Boyd, and Kaylee Bryant joined co-stars Matt Davis, Aria Shahghasemi, Quincy Fouse and Peyton Alex Smith for the meet and greet with their fans after a panel moderated by Candice King.

In an interview with TVLine, Jenny, Danielle and Kaylee all opened up about what’s ahead for their characters in season two.

For Lizzie and Josie, Kaylee and Jenny opened up about the merge.

“I really don’t think Josie’s in a place where she would fight back,” Kaylee says. “She’d let her win.” Jenny, though, is convinced that it would be a close battle.

Danielle also chatted about a world without Hope: “It’s definitely a change of pace…it gives these guys a little bit of freedom to explore different situations and dynamics now, because it’s justified. Last year, certain things wouldn’t have been justified, but now we get to experiment a little bit — until Hope is remembered and all hell breaks loose.”

Hope & Landon Spend A Lot of Time Together on 'Legacies' Tonight

Landon and Hope will be spending quite a lot of time together on tonight’s all-new Legacies, but not by their choice.

Aria Shahghasemi opened up to ET about the circumstances of the episode and just what’s coming their way.

“Alaric established something called the Honor Council, which is one witch, one vampire, one werewolf, that will basically have a say in decisions that affect the whole student body and that is what Rafael is getting into because Rafael is convincing Alaric to let the Honor Council decide Landon’s fate,” he explained. “So in terms of what I can tease about Hope and Landon, she is tasked with running the tests to figure out Landon’s origin, find answers about Landon and his whole deal.”

While both Landon and Hope aren’t thrilled about spending time together at first, it will shape their relationship going forward.

“They get to spend a lot of time together in episode five, and because of the nature of what they are doing, they can’t really lie to each other,” Aria adds. “So they have to be pretty honest about what they are feeling and what they are thinking, and that inevitably, with passionate teenagers, becomes something.”

“Malivore” airs TONIGHT, November 29th @ 9PM ET/PT on The CW.

'Legacies' Reveals New Promo Pics With Danielle Rose Russell, Jenny Boyd, & Kaylee Bryant!

The promo pics for CW’s upcoming Legacies are finally here!

We’re getting our first look at Hope Mikaelson (Danielle Rose Russell) as she heads to school at The Salvatore Boarding School for the Young and Gifted, along with Josie and Lizzie Saltzman, who happen to be Caroline Forbes’ and Alaric’s (Matt Davis) twin daughters.

The series will center around the school as the young adults come of age in the most unconventional way possible, nurtured to be their best selves…in spite of their worst impulses.

As they fight to protect their secret, their town of Mystic Falls and eventually the world, they will have to rely on ancient folklore and tales to learn how to battle their far-reaching enemies.

Jenny Boyd and Kaylee Bryant star as Lizzie and Josie, with Quincy Fouse as MG, a high-energy vampire, newly-triggered werewolf Rafael Waithe played by Peyton Alex Smith; and Aria Shahghasemi as the mysterious Landon Kirby.

Legacies premieres on Thursday, October 25th @ 9PM ET/PT on The CW.

The website also suggests that Landon could join the talked-about, but not confirmed, Hope-centric spinoff.
