HappyNew Music Friday (January 15) – our first new music roundup of 2021!!
We have some great new music to share with readers this week, including from Aly & AJ and Ariana Grande, as well as Why Don’t We‘s long-awaited album The Good Times and The Bad Ones.
Sister duo Aly & AJ dropped their first track of the year, “Listen!!!” It also comes just a couple weeks after they released the explicit version of their fan-favorite song “Potential Breakup Song.”
“Listen!!! is about feeling trapped by a relationship or system. It’s a reminder that you might be lost but you always know your way out,†Aly said about the track. “Being able to create this song with the great Jorge Elbrecht felt like a breakthrough for our songwriting. We’re honored to have a longtime mentor & hero of ours, Nancy Wilson of Heart on this track, along with the super talented Jack Tatum of Wild Nothing.â€
Why Don’t We have been teasing their new album for months, which they wrote, co-produced and played their own instruments on. The Good Times and The Bad Ones is finally here!
“Writing and co-producing our own music has been one of the most rewarding experiences for us,†Corbyn Besson shared of the LP. “In the past four years we’ve become confident enough to reinvent ourselves, becoming the band we always hoped to be.â€
“We’ve been around the whole world in 2019,” Jonah said. “I think we did like 94 shows, 92 shows on our tour, something like that. …Yeah, it was crazy.”
“We’re going to have our longest break that we’ve ever had… five months or something,” Jack added.
Elle Winter has blessed us with a brand new track, “Thought Of Me”, from her upcoming EP.
The 20-year-old musician spoke about the meaning behind the track, saying that it “speaks to the contradiction of how we present ourselves to the outside world versus who we really are as a person.”
Elle adds, “I know that as an artist and being active on social media I do not always present the ‘true me’ online. Sometimes I find it easier to let people ‘hold on’ to this idea of me instead of opening up and letting someone get to know me.”
“This song addresses that dilemma I face and I hope it resonates with my listeners and helps people realize we all experience the same problems and issues no matter who we are or where we come from.”
Elle Winter is back with a brand new track, and it comes with a message.
The 20-year-old singer’s new song “Do You” is a message to people to not worry about other people and focus on yourself.
“‘Do You’ is an anthemic song with a message for people to work on themselves and focus on their own journey, not anyone else’s,†she told Nylon. “The song is directed to anyone out there who tries to tell you how to live your life or how to be.â€
“Do You” is the latest track off of Elle Winter‘s upcoming EP. She previously released the track “Sick of You”, which you can listen to right here!
Make sure to also check out Elle‘s cover of a Why Don’t We song on Halogen.
Elle Winter just dropped her debut single off her upcoming EP, “Sick Of You”!
The 19-year-old singer/songwriter opened up about the track, saying that she’s “excited to begin my next musical chapter with my single ‘Sick of You,’ which describes being with a person who understands you and that you connect with.”
Elle continued, “It’s fitting for me to set the tone of this chapter with a message of connection, given that this is what I strive to do through my music: connect with others.”
The 19-year-old singer announced the news on her Instagram this morning, and will be releasing her debut album later this year.
“We are thrilled to welcome Elle Winter and Winter Music to Sony’s RED MUSIC family,” Bob Morelli, President of RED MUSIC, shared. “Elle not only writes amazing pop songs, but is poised, confident and destined to be a star.”
“I can’t wait for what the future holds â¤,” Elle added on her Instagram. “To everyone who has been apart of my journey I appreciate and love you!!!! I feel so blessed to be apart of such a wonderful new music family⤔
