Mollee Gray is Proud To Be a Queer Woman Despite Losing Instagram Followers

Mollee Gray is Proud To Be a Queer Woman Despite Losing Instagram Followers

Mollee Gray and her spouse Jeka Jane are way too cute at OUT Magazine’s Power 50 Award & Celebration held at NeueHouse Los Angeles on Thursday night (September 27) in Hollywood.

The Teen Beach Movie alum stepped out to the event along with co-star Garrett Clayton and his partner, Blake Knight, as well as Keiynan Lonsdale, Sam Tsui, Gigi Gorgeous and honoree Tyler Oakley.

Just a few hours before the event, Mollee took to Instagram after noticing she was losing followers on the platform.

“Recently I have been a little insecure, and while I try to preach self positivity and acceptance everyday.. social media has been having a negative effect on me,” Mollee writes. “In the past couple weeks, I have lost 7 thousand followers, and some people may think it’s silly for me to care, but the truth is, we live in a social media driven world, and it started messing with my ‘self worth.’”

She continues, saying that it was affecting everything she was doing and caused her to question everything too.

“Then I realized, ‘wow I’m starting to be more open with mine and @jekajane relationship, and so many people weren’t okay with that.’ So that gave me a sense of relief.. that I am losing followers who weren’t people that believed in me and didn’t support my life. That makes me HAPPY.”

Mollee adds, “I am clearing out room for those who GENUINELY want to follow my life. I AM PROUD TO BE A QUEER WOMAN in the industry and I am PROUD to represent other girls like me and the LGBTQ+ community. So for those people who unfollowed me, thank you, because in order for me to be happy and successful, I need to surround myself with others who have my back, and support my journey.”

We love you Mollee. This is so inspiring!

Garrett Clayton Reveals He's Gay While Speaking About Importance Of His New Movie, 'Reach'

Garrett Clayton has revealed that he’s gay in a powerful new Instagram about his new movie, Reach.

The former Teen Beach Movie star, who played Tanner in the films, hasn’t commented much about his personal life at all. However, he’s opening up in his new post because it connects straight to him and his partner, Blake Knight, in more ways than one.

“I thought it was important to explain why I took on this project in the first place,” Garrett writes. “REACH deals with some very serious and timely topics that have affected me personally, and have likely influenced many of your lives as well.”

He adds, “When I read the script for REACH, I immediately knew it was a film I had to be a part of.”

“I have personally dealt with suicide within my own family, intense bullying in high school, and – on top of it all – myself and the man I’ve been in a relationship with for a long time (@hrhblakeknight) have both experienced shootings within our hometown school systems, and have witnessed the heartache that takes place in affected communities after such tragic events. These topics – not always easy to discuss- are all close to my heart, and, knowing how serious they are, I wanted to share this with you all.”

“This film has come from the perspectives of people who care deeply about these issues, and if watching it helps even one person… then it was all worth it.”

Reach, centers on Steven Turano (played by Garrett), who divulges to a pro-suicide support group that he plans to kill himself. Although his first attempt is unsuccessful, he is determined to find a way to escape his suffering.

Garrett Clayton's New Movie 'Reach' Gets October 19 Release

Garrett Clayton can soon be seen in the new film Reach, out October 19.

The Teen Beach Movie actor stars in the flick as socially awkward band geek, Steven Turano, divulges to an online pro-suicide support group that he plans to kill himself. Although his first attempt is unsuccessful, he is determined to find a way to escape his suffering.

Steven harbors a deep resentment towards his widowed father, Steve Turano, and he is constantly picked-on by former childhood best friend and high school bully, Nick Perkins. However, when Clarence West, the new quirky kid in school, befriends him, Steven’s plans are side-tracked, and he begins to REACH out beyond his comfort zone to form stronger relationships with his father, friends and teacher, Mr. Tony.

“October, being the National Bullying Prevention Month is the perfect opportunity to share the message of REACH: Kindness, even the smallest of gestures, may change someone’s life forever,” said Maria Capp, one of the film’s writers. “Reach is about a bullied teen boy reaching for what is possible because of the kindness, friendship and affirmation of just ONE person. In making REACH, our desire was to create awareness, conversation and empathy surrounding the consequences of our actions, or inactions, as they relate to bullying.”

Reach, which also stars Jordan Doww and Joey Bragg, hits select theaters and digital markers on October 19th!
