Shadowhunters' Harry Shum Jr & The Carrie Diaries' Katie Findlay To Star in ABC Pilot 'Heart of Life'

This is some exciting news!

Harry Shum Jr and Katie Findlay have been cast as key series regulars for ABC’s pilot Heart of Life, reports Deadline.

The drama pilot is based off of the John Mayer song of the same name and “follows two sets of adult siblings from wildly different worlds who discover they’re related and must reassess everything they thought they knew about their shared father. As they explore the mystery of their separate childhoods, they’ll experience the difficulty in overcoming the sins of the past, and learn the joys of reuniting with long-lost family.”

Harry and Katie are no strangers to the Disney/ABC family. Harry can currently be seen on the final episodes of Shadowhunters on Freeform, while Katie had a recurring role on ABC’s How To Get Away With Murder. She could also be more recognizable from her role in The CW’s The Carrie Diaries.

Harry Shum, Jr. Had To Really Teach Matthew Daddario To Dance For Malec's Dance Scene in 'Shadowhunters'

Alec and Magnus’ dance scene from Shadowhunters is one of the most iconic moments in the series, but it turns out that Matthew Daddario had to get a crash dance lesson from Harry Shum, Jr to pull it off.

Harry revealed to TV Guide about preparing for the scene with Matt.

“It was fun because we got to see Matt Daddario turn white when he found out he had to dance,” he shared. “But you know what? Surprisingly, he’s really good! You know when you watch Dancing with the Stars and you see athletes dance, some just like can’t and some can because they have rhythm… he took on that side and once he understood — you had to explain it to him in sports terms, and when you did that he was like great!”

Harry added, “He picked everything up really quickly. I kind of said, ‘You have to memorize it, it’s muscle memory,’ and then when he factored that into it just became something that was — he took it on.”
