Joshua Bassett just released his new song “Lie Lie Lie“!

The 20-year-old HSMTMTS star also premiered the music video for the track on Thursday afternoon (January 14).

“Lie Lie Lie” is the first single off of his upcoming self-titled debut EP, out early this year, and the video was directed by Gus Black.

The day before, Joshua revealed what the song was about.

“I wrote ‘Lie, Lie, Lie’ after i found out a friend had been lying about me behind my back for a long time,” he shared on Instagram story. “It always sucks to hear that someone you thought you could trust would throw you under the bus when it benefits them.”

Joshua Bassett is opening up about his upcoming new single “Lie Lie Lie“!

The 20-year-old musician and actor just revealed the meaning behind his new song.

“I wrote ‘Lie, Lie, Lie’ after i found out a friend had been lying about me behind my back for a long time,” he shared on Instagram story. “It always sucks to hear that someone you thought you could trust would throw you under the bus when it benefits them.”

“It happens to all of us, and I think all you can do is seek out people that build you up rather than tear you down,” he added.

Joshua‘s message comes as fans have been speculating what and who the track is about.

“Lie Lie Lie,” the song and video, will be out at 3pm PT on Thursday (January 14).

High School Musical: The Musical: The Series co-stars Olivia Rodrigo and Joshua Bassett have both just made exciting music announcements!

Olivia just announced that her debut single “drivers license” is coming out THIS Friday (January 8).

Joshua, who has been teasing new music and his upcoming EP, also revealed that his first single from his new project is called “Lie Lie Lie,” and it will be released NEXT Thursday, January 14th.

Joshua Bassett has given fans a holiday gift!

The now 20-year-old HSMTMTS star and singer dropped a live performance video of his upcoming new song “Heaven Is You.”

“surprise ! Heaven is You LIVE on my youtube !” he wrote on Instagram.

Joshua actually released the video on his birthday (December 22) - Happy Birthday Joshua!!

The singer has been using the song a lot lately to tease his upcoming EP and the first single from the mini album, which will officially be released on January 14th.

Joshua recently opened up about going to Joshua Tree to work on music over the summer.

“I come to Joshua Tree whenever I can. I wrote and worked on some of the songs for my EP out here. It’s absolutely beautiful and peaceful, and there’s no noise, no one can hear you. It’s kind of nice to be in your own little bubble,” he said in a teaser video.

Olivia Rodrigo dished on her favorite holiday song!

The 17-year-old HSMTMTS star revealed which song she absolutely loves in an Instagram story on the Freeform account.

“I think mine is ‘Mistletoe’ by Justin Bieber. Absolute classic. I remember the year that song came out, me and my friends would just blast it. I was so obsessed with Justin Bieber when I was that age. So, [it] has a special place in my heart.”

“Mistletoe” came out in October 2011, which would have made Olivia eight years old!

She also asked a few of her co-stars holiday-related questions, and asked the same favorite holiday song question of her co-star Joshua Bassett.

“My favorite holiday song currently is ‘Santa’s Coming For Us’ by Sia. Check it out,” he said.

We have our first sneak peek into the upcoming second season of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series with the “Something In The Air” music video!

The new song and dance number is from the recently released High School Musical: The Musical: The Holiday Special and features all of the kids from the East High drama club.

The video actually serves as a kickoff for the drama club’s new Instagram page.

“Ladies, gentleman, or however else you identify, welcome to the East High drama club’s brand new Instagram page,” Frankie A. Rodriguez (Carlos) starts out in the clip.

He returns later in the video to give an update on the theater, which went up in flames on Thanksgiving in season one.

“We are excited to announce that behind these doors, the theater is being restored to it’s full, resplendid 1960s-era glory over the holiday break,” he shares.

High School Musical: The Musical: The Series season two will premiere on Disney+ in 2021. In case you forgot, find out what musical they are doing!

Joshua Bassett is opening up about his new original song “The Perfect Gift,” which is featured in the High School Musical: The Musical: The Holiday Special.

The song will also be part of the show’s upcoming second season.

“Tim Federle approached me in January of this year, when they were writing this next season, and he said, ‘You know, we got this song that Ricky sings and I would love if you personally wrote it yourself,’” Joshua said on GMA3. “So he kind of gave me the context of it, about how Ricky can’t really afford a gift and so he comes up with the song.”

“My favorite lyric is in the end of the chorus that’s, ‘This song’s the second best that I could do, and the perfect gift is you,’” he adds. “So it’s that kind of concept of that other person being the true gift versus any material things.”

Joshua also talked about his upcoming EP, and revealed the release date of the first single!

“My EP is coming out early 2021, but my single off of that is coming out January 14th, which is the first time I’m announcing that. So, very exciting, but yeah, January 14th people can expect a single, and then shortly thereafter my EP is coming,” he said.
