Melissa Benoist is continuing working with Warner Bros!

It was just announced that the 32-year-old Supergirl star has inked an overall deal with the company, who also produces her CW show, and is launching her own production company, Deadline reveals.

Melissa will start up Three Rings Productions “to develop and produce original television shows, including comedies and dramas, for all platforms including HBO Max, third party streamers, cable networks and broadcast nets.”

“I’ve had a wonderfully supportive home at Warner Bros. for the last six years, and I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to put on a producer’s hat and continue working with them,” she said in a statement.

“I approach my work as an actor in search of that magic gut feeling you get when you know something is right,” she continued. “I plan on following those instincts as a producer, approaching each story with passion, playfulness, curiosity, a sure-footed step, and like all things worth taking a risk on, a hint of terror. I can’t wait to collaborate with new voices and find stories that hit the heart in that indefinable way.”

Melissa will star as Supergirl for a final sixth season, which is set to premiere midseason on The CW. No premiere date has been revealed as of yet.

The show was pushed back due to her welcoming her first child last fall.

Supergirl's Melissa Benoist Discusses White Privilege & Says This 'Isn't the World I Want' for Her Child

“I have struggled with the words to use, I thought words didn’t belong in this fight, that I didn’t have the right to talk about the issue of privilege of being white, because I didn’t have lived experience of being a person of color in the United States. I’ve felt helpless in not knowing how to take action. I was afraid of messing up, of saying the wrong thing. No more. I made a promise to a friend of mine this week that I would not be silent anymore, that I would stand in solidarity with my voice and my actions, not just my heart. That’s not just a promise to him. This burden is too much for black people to bear alone anymore. I am beyond ashamed that they have had to for so long,” she wrote.

“I’m about to bring a child into this world, and this isn’t the world I want him to know. I want to be a part of a generation that actually ensures change, so that my son’s generation does not have to endure this kind of heartbreak, so that his generation will know the truths of white privilege and how to combat it. His parents will educate him as best we can while we simultaneously educate ourselves.”

Last year, Melissa bravely opened up about this experience.

Melissa Benoist Opens Up About Her First Time Directing

Melissa Benoist Opens Up About Her First Time Directing

Melissa Benoist is dishing on what it was like stepping into the director role for the first time!

The Supergirl star directed the most recent episode of her show, which aired last night (May 3).

“Considering it was the first time in the director’s chair for me, I think I’d be remiss if I didn’t say how terrified I was,” Melissa told EW. “That just went without saying, that I was scared, but reading it also had this thrilling aspect to it because I was going to get to be the one to visualize it and make sure the tone was coming across.”

“I guess only since season 4, we’ve had these episodes that were a departure from the story and took a step back and gave us Lex Luthor’s point of view, and this is one of those episodes. So, I couldn’t believe how lucky I was that I got to be the teller of that particular story for our season, where we recap the entire season from Lex Luthor, Jon Cryer‘s eyes,” she added. “And I was very excited to get to work with him closely in an actor-director relationship. Aside from the initial terror, and wondering whether or not I was capable of doing it, I was so excited and immediately just imagining what I wanted to do and thinking of shots.”

Melissa added how being an actor influenced her approach in directing.

“Well, I think, just innately, we approach the script a certain way just without even thinking about it. Thinking about tonally what emotions are there or what is driving a character, our objectives and our goals. But more than that, just for this show specifically, I feel like it’s become a second skin and I’ve spent so much time with the characters, not just the ones I play,” Melissa said. “So it’s almost a little unfair because since day one, I’ve just seen how each character’s arc has progressed and changed, and grown. So that really informed my approach to it all. And really we all just want to tell good stories, and that was my main focus the whole time.
