Penn Badgley and Chace Crawford had a mini, virtual Gossip Girl reunion!

The two former co-stars chatted about their current shows, and reflected on their time together on the CW series.

Penn and Chace dished on how Gossip Girl should get a little credit for Twitter.

“I remember even meeting a publicist that first season, and she was talking about this thing called Twitter. And as she explained Twitter, I was like, ‘What is this nonsense? I don’t want to have a Twitter account, and you tweet. What is this bird thing?’ That’s something that actually years later, I think we got to give credit to Gossip Girl,” Penn said in their Variety “Actors on Actors” interview.

“It was ahead of its time. It really tapped into something interesting on the cusp of it all changing,” Chace added. “I’m like, ‘Why would I want to put my life out there? I’m trying to crawl into my hermit shell. I’m a Cancer.’ But now we’re all partaking. It’s part of the business. I should follow you.”

The guys also talked about watching the show back. Penn said the last time he watched it, it was “very hard to watch” and “sometimes it’s just uncomfortable.”

Chace added that you would have to “strap me to a gurney and pop my eyes open like Clockwork Orange. But no, it would be interesting to see the first couple maybe.”

Can you imagine Gossip Girl without Penn Badgley as Lonely Boy Dan Humphrey?

Well, he almost wasn’t. The You actor’s role was almost filled by Solo: A Star Wars Story‘s Alden Ehrenreich instead!

“Before Penn was involved, I desperately wanted Alden Ehrenreich to play Dan,” casting director David Rapaport revealed in a new interview with Entertainment Weekly.

It came down to height – Alden was apparently too short to star alongside Blake Lively‘s Serena van der Woodsen.

David was sure about Blake playing Serena, though: “They were looking for someone who was casually cool, effortlessly chic, and—as a performer—was able to access their feelings. I was looking for this perfect person that would deliver on every level. I did not have another choice. I knew in my heart there was no one else.”

Shay Mitchell goes glam for the premiere of her new series You!

The Pretty Little Liars star hit the red carpet at the event, hosted by Lifetime, on Thursday (September 6) in New York City.

She was joined by her co-stars Penn Badgley, Elizabeth Lail, Luca Padovan, Nicole Kang, Kathryn Gallagher, Daniel Cosgrove, Gianni Ciardiello, Ambyr Childers, Mercedes Griffeth, and Lou Taylor Pucci.

Katie Holmes was also there to show her support.

Shay Mitchell is joined by the cast of her new show You while speaking to the press at a panel on Thursday (July 26) in Los Angeles.

The 31-year-old former Pretty Little Liars actress was joined by her co-stars Penn Badgley, Elizabeth Lail, and John Stamos while opening up about the upcoming show.

The series doesn’t premiere until September 9, but Lifetime has already confirmed that a second season has been ordered.

You, which also stars Kathryn Gallagher and Hari Nef, will air as a Netflix original outside of the United States.
