While the title, The Rook, might make you wonder if it will have anything to do with Twilight – Edward Cullen and Bella Swan did love to play chess, after all – it will actually be based on the 2012 novel of the same name by Daniel O’Malley.
Starz made the announcement on Friday (July 28) at the Summer TCA Press Tour.
Here’s the synopsis from Starz: “The Rook tells the story of a young woman who wakes up in a London park suffering total amnesia – surrounded by dead bodies, all wearing latex gloves. Pursued by shadowy paranormal adversaries, grappling with peculiar ‘abilities’ of her own, she must fight to uncover her past, and resume her position at the head of Britain’s most secret (supernatural) service… before the traitors who stole her memory can finish what they started.”
The Rook, set for a 2018 premiere date, will feature “one of the most fascinating and thrilling female protagonists on television,” according to Starz CEO Chris Albrecht (via Vanity Fair).
No word on casting yet, but Stephenie will co-executive produce.

The author of the “Twilight” series just made a huge announcement — she has released a new book that has swapped Edward and Bella’s genders, now making them Edythe and Beau
“I wanted to do something fun for the 10th anniversary,” Stephanie Meyer, the author, said, adding that she was bothered by people who thought Bella was a “damsel in distress,” so she flipped the genders.
“Life and Death: Twilight Reimagined” is now available online and in stores!
Stephenie Meyer has just announced that her smash hit book “Twilight” is going to be released in stores again next month with brand new bonus content to help celebrate the 10th anniversary!
The book was released back in October 2005 and it will be released again on October 6, 2015.
“It’s amazing to me that 10 years have passed since ‘Twilight’ was first published. For me, this anniversary is a celebration of the fans, with all of their incredible passion and dedication. I’m excited to get to spend time with them again,” Stephenie said in a statement.
“I felt the same thrill reading this special anniversary edition as I did when I read the manuscript a decade ago. I’m pleased we have this opportunity for devoted fans to relive the extraordinary ‘Twilight’ experience, as well as for a new generation of readers to discover it for the very first time,” Megan Tingley, the public and EVP of Little, Brown Books for Young Readers added.
