Brenda Song Never Thought About Her Appearance When Auditioning

Brenda Song is a golden beauty for her feature in Grumpy magazine‘s Issue No 15!

The Dollface actress opened up about auditioning, Suite Life of Zach & Cody, and her mom’s breast cancer diagnosis. Check it out:

On auditioning for any role: “I think it’s that mentality [you have] when you’re younger and you have no fear, because I didn’t even think about the fact that I didn’t look like everyone else… [I] go audition, read for the characters, and not think about anything else but to go in there and give the best audition regardless of what the role is asking for… All I wanted to do was to act so I went in.”

On her Dollface cast being like their characters: “I’m definitely the most like Madison. I’m the one who would schedule everything and start a group chat letting the other girls know that we are meeting at that place and time. Kat is more of a homebody. Shay traveled the world, so if you need a restaurant recommendation, she knows everyone and everything. Esther is always cheerful. So we are actually those characters – obviously not that extreme.”

On being there for her mom through her breast cancer diagnosis: “When I first learned about my mom diagnosis, I was 16 [and] working on Suite Life. I was so scared… I was sitting there with my mom at her doctor’s appointment, asking the questions that I thought were silly and dumb, seeing what kind of options were out there and what treatment she was doing. All of those things were so helpful for me… Being there and supporting my mom is more important to me than anything I will ever do in my career.”

Brenda Song Spills On Behind-the-Scenes of Iconic 'Suite Life' PRNDL Scene

Brenda Song is all smiles in a snap from her new feature in Teen Vogue.

The 31-year-old actress spilled on her iconic PRNDL scene in the The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, staying friends with her Disney co-stars and more! Check it:

On not being able to audition for Crazy Rich Asians: “A lot of people don’t know this, but I never got to read for Crazy Rich Asians, ever…Their reasoning behind that, what they said was that my image was basically not Asian enough, in not so many words. It broke my heart. I said, ‘This character is in her late to mid-20s, an Asian American, and I can’t even audition for it? I’ve auditioned for Caucasian roles my entire career, but this specific role, you’re not going to let me do it? You’re going to fault me for having worked my whole life?’ I was like, ‘Where do I fit?’”

On the iconic PRNDL scene from The Suite Life of Zack and Cody: “Phill [Lewis] made me laugh so hard. We didn’t get very many takes because the ‘AM/FM’ [line] broke me so many times. We shot that scene so quickly, we never even thought twice about it. I have so many people that are like, ‘That’s how I remember. When I learned how to drive I just remember the PRNDL.’ I’m so glad that we could get some useful information out there.”

On maintaining friendships with co-stars from her teen years: “As we all grow older and spin into adult careers, seeing each other is amazing because we’ve all been through this crazy thing together that not very many people understand. I wouldn’t stay friends with them just because we worked together. These people are great, and it makes me really happy to see them all so successful. It’s not easy to make that transition.”

Brenda Song Would Love To Bring London Tipton Back For 'A Suite Life' Reboot

Brenda Song is ready for Disney to reboot The Suite Life, and maybe Stuck in the Suburbs.

In a recent interview with Elite Daily, the 31-year-old actress opened up about her iconic role of London Tipton and how she’d most definitely be up for a reboot.

“I think Stuck in the Suburbs would be fun to redo,” Brenda shared. “But I also feel like London is a classic character to bring back. I would love to see what London Tipton is doing in 2019… There are times when people ask: ‘Where would London be right now?’ and I’m like, ‘I don’t even know.’ Which is actually really kind of fun. I think that would be a fun route to take.”

A London Tipton centered reboot? We are 100% here for that!

“How could you say no [to a reboot]? It would be fun,” Brenda adds, however “it would depend on what it is, but I think it would be so much fun.”

Brenda also chatted about the final day on The Suite Life set where she had to say goodbye to their characters.

“One of the hardest things that I’ve ever had to shoot was that very last scene that I shot, saying goodbye to Phill [Lewis], Dylan [Sprouse], and Cole [Sprouse]. They had to tell [us], ‘You can’t be this sad. You’re too emotional.’ I was like, ‘This is not fake. This is a 100% real.’”

“We all stay in contact,” Brenda assures fans. “We may not speak every single day, or every six months, or every year but it’s always birthdays, holidays, it’s a text always. And the twins … we always send each other a text like, ‘Hey, can you grab dinner? Are you around?’”
