Demi Lovato Says She Isn't Romantically Interested In Men Anymore

Demi Lovato Says She Isn't Romantically Interested In Men Anymore

Demi Lovato is opening up about where her sexuality stands now.

The 28-year-old shared that she feels “really queer” and is exploring that side of herself more.

“I know who I am and what I am, but I’m just waiting until a specific timeline to come out to the world as what I am,” Demi told Glamour. “I’m following my healers’ timeline, and I’m using this time to really study and educate myself on my journey and what I’m preparing to do.”

“When I started getting older, I started realizing how queer I really am,” she added. “This past year I was engaged to a man, and when it didn’t work, I was like, This is a huge sign. I thought I was going to spend my life with someone. Now that I wasn’t going to, I felt this sense of relief that I could live my truth.”

Demi said that she’s been casually dating and figuring what she likes and what she doesn’t like.

“I hooked up with a girl and was like, ‘I like this a lot more.’ It felt better. It felt right,” Demi dished. “Some of the guys I was hanging out with—when it would come time to be sexual or intimate, I would have this kind of visceral reaction. Like, ‘I just don’t want to put my mouth there.’ It wasn’t even based on the person it was with.”

“I just found myself really appreciating the friendships of those people more than the romance, and I didn’t want the romance from anybody of the opposite sex.”

Demi Lovato Feels More Like Herself With Short Hair

Demi Lovato is opening up more about why she cut her hair so short late last year.

The 28-year-old entertainer made an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show airing Monday afternoon (February 22) to promote her upcoming docu-series Dancing With The Devil, and her latest song “What Other People Say” with Sam Fischer.

During her solo interview, Demi shared that her short hair feels more authentic and more like herself.

“I feel so free. I feel more authentic to who I am. I also feel like I used to hide behind my hair,” she said. “I’ve talked a lot about my past and being in recovery from an eating disorder. I used to use my hair to hide behind. It would cover my body. So when I started doing all this work on myself, I thought, ‘What is something that I’ve been holding onto my whole life that I need to let go of?’ And it was that. I feel more myself now.”

Demi previously opened up about the change while chatting with Kesha, and said it was more spiritual and emotional than just needing a change.

Demi Lovato is opening up about her health following her near fatal overdose.

Earlier, the 28-year-old released the trailer for her upcoming docu-series, Dancing With The Devil, and in it, revealed she suffered three strokes and a heart attack.

While speaking to press at the doc’s Television Critics Association panel on Wednesday (February 17), Demi revealed the side effects she has.

“I was left with brain damage, and I still deal with the effects of that today. I don’t drive a car, because I have blind spots on my vision,” she shared, via People. “And I also for a long time had a really hard time reading. It was a big deal when I was able to read out of a book, which was like two months later because my vision was so blurry.”

“I dealt with a lot of the repercussions and I feel like they are still there to remind me of what could happen if I ever get into a dark place again,” Demi added. “I’m grateful for those reminders, but I’m so grateful that I was someone that didn’t have to do a lot of rehabbing. The rehabbing came on the emotional side.”

Also in the trailer, one of her best friends, Matthew Scott Montgomery, said of Demi, presumably in the hospital, “She was like, ‘I can’t see, I can’t see anything.’”
