Grant Gustin Was Kind of Miserable While Filming The First Arrowverse Crossover - Find Out Why!

The first ever Arrowverse crossover happened between The Flash and Arrow back in 2014, and turns out that Grant Gustin was a little miserable while filming it.

While talking to EW, Grant revealed that his mask was the thing causing all the trouble and misery for him.

“We blocked it in the daylight, and I remember there’s paparazzi pictures of us blocking it. Stephen [Amell] is standing in his Arrow show jacket and I’m glued into my mask [looking] so unhappy watching this stunt rehearsal,” Grant shared. “They hadn’t figured out how to do my mask yet. So for the first nine episodes, I was glued in for like 12 hours at a time. Like, I’d eat lunch in my mask.”

He adds that at one point he was “sitting on the bed [in my hotel] in my mask, like needing to go up for that fight scene and I was sobbing because it was so emotional. Just my whole mask was getting spongy, and it was terrible.”

“It wasn’t glamorous that first day of the crossover. I just remember being tired and beat down and mad about being in the mask and excited for the next episode.”

But he didn’t let his misery overtake him and was excited to work on the crossover: “That’s what this experience is, though, every year. It’s amazing. It’s something I’ll cherish for the rest of my life, and it’s definitely not as glamorous as everyone thinks it is.”

The Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover kicks off this weekend on The CW.

It’s the end of an era!

Stephen Amell and Grant Gustin just filmed their very last scene as Green Arrow and The Flash together.

Stephen commemorated the moment with a post on his official Twitter account.

“Just wrapped my last day working with Grant. I’ve learned so much from him over the past 7 years. Always felt like Barry brought the best out in Oliver,” he wrote. “If Arrow lit the spark, Flash fanned the flame.”

He added, with a little joke, “Also… I fell asleep during our last scene. Thank you, Mr. Gustin.”

Candice Patton & Grant Gustin Don't Want You To Worry About Barry & Iris Splitting Up on 'The Flash'

Candice Patton & Grant Gustin Don't Want You To Worry About Barry & Iris Splitting Up on 'The Flash'

Candice Patton and Grant Gustin pose for a picture together during The Flash cast’s signing session during 2019 Comic-Con over the weekend in San Diego, Calif.

The two stars were joined by their co-stars Hartley Sawyer, Danielle Panabaker, Tom Cavanagh, and Carlos Valdes for the meet and greet event with fans.

Just after the show’s panel earlier in the day, Candice and Grant opened up about the future of WestAllen and how you shouldn’t be worried about them splitting up at all.

“We’re pretty much still dealing with the shock of it [losing Nora], and Barry is trying aggressively to be optimistic and move forward and probably, to a fault, not dealing with it in all the way he should be dealing with it,” Grant shares about what’s going on in the couple’s lives right now.

Candice added, “I think you’ll see kind of early on, Iris kind of questions how they’re both dealing with it. They really talk about what the appropriate way is to kind of grieve Nora so that they can move forward in a positive way and get back to Team Flash, and do it in a way so that they can sustain themselves as a married couple.”

And if you’ve been worried about a divorce coming, don’t – “There’s tension, but we are coming closer in some ways too,” Grant says.

“It’s good marital tension, where it’s like, you’re not afraid of them getting divorced, but they’ve got stuff to work out, you know?” Candice shared.

FYI: Candice is wearing a Camilla and Marc dress.

Grant Gustin Explains What's Next for 'The Flash' After That Tragic Season 5 Death!

Grant Gustin Explains What's Next for 'The Flash' After That Tragic Season 5 Death!

Grant Gustin is teasing what’s next on The Flash!

The 29-year-old actor opened up about what fans can expect from Season 6 of the CW hit during an interview with Entertainment Weekly.

“Moving toward the crossover, we’re going to see the impact [losing Barry and Iris’ daughter, Nora] is going to have on the future,” he said. “We’re also going to find out more about the ‘Crisis’ headline in the [future] newspaper and why that date changed [in the Season 5 finale], if the date changed. Heading toward the crossover we’re going to be dealing with that.”

Executive producer Eric Wallace, who is taking over as showrunner, teased an emotional sixth season.

“If Season 4 was a little bit more humor and Season 5 was a little bit more spectacle, in Season 6 we’ll have a little more heart. I want to deepen character emotions,” he told EW.

Eric also revealed that Season 6 will pick up just 10 seconds after the events of Season 5′s tragic finale.

“It allows us to not shy away from the big elephant in the room of Nora passing,” he explained of the decision. “That is something that Barry [played by Grant] and Iris [played by Candice Patton] must deal with in season 6 in order to be the heroes and supportive couple that they are.”

The Flash returns on October 8th on The CW.
