Katie Cassidy has returned to the Arrow-verse as Black Siren…and it’s looking like she’s going to stay that way.
In a preview from EP Wendy Mericle, she revealed to TVLine that her villainous turn will be a mainstay on the show, along with a few “what ifs”.
“I don’t know if there’s any question about whether or not the [idea] of redemption will come up; it has to,” Wendy shared. “Her father is there. Oliver is there. Everyone is going to be asking whether or not it’s possible to find a little piece of Laurel, the Laurel Lance they knew and loved, in there somewhere.”
But still, a powerful female villain is going to be awesome on Arrow!
“I think she’s interesting as a [villain],” Wendy adds. “Black Siren is a badass.”
TELL JJJ: Are you for Katie as Laurel, or as Black Siren?
Congratulations are in order for Arrow actress Katie Cassidy and her boyfriend Matthew Rodgers – they just got engaged!!!
The 30-year-old actress opened up about the special occasion with a super sweet post on her Instagram account. Matthew asked Katie to marry him while they were vacationing in Mauritius over the weekend.
“I can’t wait to spend forever with you my darling!! I’m the luckiest girl in the whole world. I <3 YOU to the moon and back @mattyice432 Thank you for a magical evening I will forever remember," Katie captioned a photo of her and Matthew sharing a kiss.
Katie can be seen showing off her sparkly engagement ring in the pic.
The actress, who played Laurel Lance on the CW show for four seasons, will be coming back as Black Siren…and there was another possibility that she could’ve ended up on DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, too.
“That was something we had talked about,” EP Marc Guggenheim shared. “For us, the whole conversation about bringing Katie back as a series regular on Arrow began with her performance in the midseason premiere.”
He adds, “We briefly spoke about bringing her on Legends, but I think from a story perspective we would get far more mileage out of her interacting with the cast of Arrow.”

While Arrow‘s Felicity is spending time and working at Helix, she’s going to run into someone who is going to be major trouble — could it be Vigilante unmasked?
“What’s interesting about it is he’s not actually at Helix right now, so there’s going to be a big episode where we find out who this person is,” EP Wendy Mericle told Entertainment Weekly recently.
Felicity will be meeting him first, before anyone else on Team Arrow and she won’t have any idea that he’s evil.
“Felicity is involved in helping him,” Wendy adds. “It’s really messed up.”
No kidding!
If you remember, Felicity is at Helix with the sole purpose of getting revenge against Prometheus and Adrian.
