Not Everyone Made It To Riverdale's Graduation Episode, Showrunner Reveals

Tonight’s the night – the Riverdale gang is graduating!

The all new episode is the final one before the series jumps forward seven years. This ep was originally meant to be the season six finale.

Showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, who wrote the episode, revealed that not all of the characters made to the episode.

“Today’s a big day in #Riverdale. As excited/nervous as I was for my own high school graduation waaaay too many years ago. Somehow, this one means more. Not all of our characters survived to make it to graduation. Not all of the actors we wanted to come back were able to for various reasons (including Covid). But so grateful to everyone in this picture. And to many more who aren’t in the picture, but we’ll be seeing soon. Next stop: Seven years in the future…🚀🎢📸👀💥☠️,” he shared on Instagram, where he’s been sharing tidbits.

“All the secrets will come out; all the tears will flow,” Roberto shared the day before.

“The gang finally graduates, tonight. 🎓 a very sentimental, emotional episode for everyone who has been on this Riverdale journey with us since day 1,” Lili Reinhart shared on her social media.

“Everything changes tonight. @thecwriverdale,” KJ Apa added.

If you missed the good news, it was just announced that Riverdale has already been picked up for another season, along with many other CW shows!

The 49-year-old actor, who plays Hiram Lodge on the series, recently opened up about the show’s seven year time jump in the upcoming fifth season.

“Um, season five is graduation, and then they’re going to jump cuts seven years after a few episodes. Which was a decision not to stay like in the college,” he said on SiriusXM’s Quarantined with Bruce.

It’s super interesting. I’m excited to do it. I’m up to my old shenanigans. Um, but I’m excited to get back to work.”

Mark Consuelos has some advice for his Riverdale co-stars.

The 48-year-old actor, who plays Hiram Lodge on the CW hit, was asked about rumors that Lili Reinhart and Cole Sprouse have split during an appearance on Andy Cohen‘s SiriusXM radio show on Wednesday (July 24).

When asked if he could confirm the rumored split, Mark said, “I’ve been gone from Vancouver [where Riverdale is filmed] for about 10 days, so I have no idea what’s going on over there.”

Mark also shared some advice he said he would have like to have given his young co-stars.

Mark met his wife, Kelly Ripa, while they were both working on All My Children in 1995.
