Fans Are Freaking Out Over The Possibility Of 'Scream Queens' Coming Back!

Is Scream Queens coming back for a third season?!

Fans are freaking out on social media after a screenshot of an article went around on Friday (November 15) confirming a new season is coming to Netflix, but the actual article is nowhere to be found anymore.

The horror comedy series, starring Emma Roberts, Lea Michele, Billie Lourd, Abigail Breslin, Keke Palmer and Jamie Lee Curtis, aired for two seasons on Fox before sadly being canceled at the network. Earlier this year, there were rumors of a movie version being in the works.

Ryan Murphy, one of the show’s creators, recently opened up about the possibility of the show making a return, and dished that most of the original cast is on board.

“I don’t know. I would have to say that the answer to that lies in the studio who made it. Obviously I work for Netflix now, but if I could do anything to bring it back,” he told Deadline. “Emma said she would do it, Lea Michele said she would do it, Jamie Lee Curtis, Abigail Breslin, Billie Lourd are all in. So it would depend if Fox wants to do it. I think we’d all do it. I think we’re waiting for them to call us. I know the show is very popular and had a real spike in popularity on Hulu.”

“That was another one when we were making it; I don’t know if time has caught up to it, or it takes a while for people to get things, but yes, I’d be up for it,” he added. “The fans should write Fox and say they want this, Fox Studios and the network.”

Emma also got fans talking after she showed off her new hairdo, which looks quite similar to Chanel Oberlin’s hair!

No official word has been said yet, but we’re keeping our hopes up!

Lea Michele Has 'Scream Queens' Reunion at Hair Salon

Lea Michele and Emma Roberts had quite the Scream Queens reunion on Monday (February 12)!

The actresses and real life BFFs also ran into Glen Powell, who played Chad on season one.

All three recorded videos on Instagram Story and we love seeing them all together – Check out some screen grabs in the gallery below!

“Chad + Hester + Chanel = FOREVER!!!!!” Lea captioned a photo of the trio.

Just a few days prior, Lea celebrated Emma‘s birthday by sharing a sweet tribute to her friend, where she referenced Riverdale and the Hadid sisters.

'Scream Queens' Will Not Get a Third Season

Sad news for fans of Scream Queens – the show will not be coming back for more seasons on Fox.

This week marks the week where all of the major networks announce their schedules for the upcoming season and Fox chairman Gary Newman just told reporters that there are “no plans to tell more stories there.”

The first season of Scream Queens told the story of a killer wrecking havoc on a sorority at a fictional university while the second season saw most of the characters working at a hospital, where another killer was trying to kill off the sorority girls.

Emma Roberts, Lea Michele, Billie Lourd, Keke Palmer, Abigail Breslin, and Jamie Lee Curtis starred in the series from Ryan Murphy.

ARE YOU SAD that Scream Queens will not return?

Lea Michele Won't Return to 'Scream Queens' if Season 3 Happens

Fans of Lea Michele‘s character Hester Ulrich on the Fox comedy Scream Queens are going to be disappointed by this news – the actress will not return to the series if a third season is ordered.

Lea‘s fans do have something to look forward to though – she has joined the cast of an upcoming ABC comedy pilot about a city mayor, which is also starring Hamilton‘s Tony winner Daveed Diggs.

The series will follow “what happens when an outspoken, idealistic rapper Courtney (Search Party‘s Brandon Micheal Hall) runs for office as a publicity stunt. When he actually gets elected, he surprises everyone (including himself) when he has a natural knack for the job and slowly transforms city hall,” according to THR.

Lea‘s character was reportedly originally planned to be Courtney’s chief of staff, but the role is being modified to fit her.

Ryan Murphy has reportedly released Lea from her deal to star in the potential third season of Scream Queens. The show has not yet been renewed and is still on the bubble as pilot season heads into full swing. If the show does return, it will come back without Hester Ulrich.

10 Hysterical Chanel #1 Quotes That Prove We Need 'Scream Queens' Season 3

When Billie Lourd, Emma Roberts, and Lea Michele first banded together for a new Fox show, Scream Queens, no one knew what to expect. But despite varying ratings, it definitely clicked with a young demographic who loved the gorgeous designer clothes, horrifying murders and hilarious one-liners.

The show is “still very much in consideration for renewal,” but so far its fate hasn’t been revealed by the network. We’re rooting for renewal, and it’s all because of Chanel #1. There has never been a darker, funnier and more fashion-forward sorority protagonist before or since.

Here’s the proof… 10 of her best quotes ever:

1. “Learn to make a pumpkin spice latte, you psychopath.”
