Bella Thorne and Zendaya’s friendship didn’t come easy and came well after they started working together on Shake It Up!
In a new interview, Bella opened up about the two young Disney stars being pitted against each other and what it took for them to become friends.
“We had to deal with that so much on Shake It Up,†Bella told Us Weekly. “It’s like we said [in] a couple interviews when we were younger, how we explained how in the first season we weren’t friends and it took us those other two seasons of becoming so close. [It was hard] not having someone pitted against you [before] and then all of a sudden, now everyone is pitting you against each other. That fed into our heads. It made us not [be] friends in that first season.â€
Bella revealed that their relationship improved after a “beautiful talk in the middle of a sound stage†on the set ofGood Luck Charlie.
She explained, “We were really able to put our cards out on the table and understanding each other.â€
“Zendaya’s amazing. I f—king love her,†Bella added. “She’s always been amazing and she’s always going to be amazing. I’m just happy that people see that. She’s getting the recognition she deserves. That just makes me so happy. I feel like when people put us against each other, it’s just like, … ‘Why are you doing this? Is it just because we’re women?’â€

We’re looking back at the premiere of Justin Bieber‘s Never Say Never movie, which hit theaters ten years ago TODAY (February 11) in 2011.
The concert documentary, directed by Jon M Chu, showed footage from Justin‘s sold out Madison Square Garden concert, and also featured special guests Miley Cyrus, Sean Kingston and Jaden Smith, as well as backstage and behind-the-scenes access of the days before, leading up to the big concert.
“10 years #NeverSayNever,” Justin simply wrote on Twitter to commemorate the anniversary, along with the movie poster.
“10 years ago today. Wow. @justinbieber it is still @jonmchu’s best work LOL. Love all involved. 10 years later love you guys,” Justin‘s longtime manager Scooter Braun shared on Instagram.
While the Los Angeles premiere of the film, held on February 8, 2011, had a ton of celebrities in attendance, the New York premiere the week before on February 2nd, was attended by Justin‘s now wife Hailey Bieber and her dad Stephen Baldwin.
In a new interview on A Late Show, the 24-year-old actress revealed that they would have dance parties on set.
“I mean everyone is so lovely. I mean, Timothee has become one of my closest friends, and he’s lovely and so talented,” Zendaya gushed to host Stephen Colbert. “I think my favorite part was we would have these dance parties in my room, where I would leave the door open, Timothee would come in with his little speaker, and then everybody would start coming in. Then we would just start dancing.”
She also admitted that Javier Bardem has some good dance moves.
“Listen, he peaked in and he was groovin’. I was like, okay Javier. He had the moves. I was very impressed,” she said.
The duo have become one of our favorite new pair of friends, and back in October, Zendaya opened up about how fun we was to be around.
They even shared super sweet messages for each other’s birthdays this past year!
