Elle Fanning & Maitreyi Ramakrishnan Get Nominated For Film Independent Spirit Awards!

The 2021 Film Independent Spirit Awards nominations have been revealed!

Elle Fanning and Maitreyi Ramakrishnan are among the TV nominees this year. They are both up against each other in the Best Female Performance in a Scripted Series for their work in The Great and Never Have I Ever, respectively.

The upcoming awards are usually held the night before the Oscars, but due to pandemic shakeups, they’re actually taking place three days before on April 22nd.

While the awards normally only cover feature films, this year, they have added television categories.

“2020 was Hell on earth, but one glorious lifeline these past months has been the ability to watch so many great films and shows,” Film Independent president Josh Welsh said in a statement, via THR. “In an unbelievably challenging year, this year’s Spirit Award nominees inspired us, connected us, and have been a source of urgently needed light in the darkness. Even though we’re still stuck at home, let’s come together to celebrate this great work!”

Elle Fanning To Star In Hulu's Limited Series 'The Girl From Plainville'

Elle Fanning is going to be very busy!

It was just announced that the 22-year-old actress will star in the new limited series The Girl From Plainville at Hulu.

The show was ordered straight to series, with Elle also serving as an executive producer on the project.

The Girl From Plainville follows Elle as Michelle Carter and is inspired by the true story of her controversial “texting-suicide” case. Based off of the Esquire article of the same name by Jesse Barron, the limited series will explore Carter’s relationship with Conrad Roy III and the events that led to his death and, later, her controversial conviction of involuntary manslaughter.

Elle will also be starring in the upcoming second season of her satirical show The Great, also on Hulu, alongside Nicholas Hoult.

It was just announced that The Great is coming back for a second season!

The satirical Hulu dramedy series, which stars Elle Fanning and Nicholas Hoult, has been renewed for a 10-episode season two.

The Great is about the rise of Catherine the Great from outsider to the longest-reigning female ruler in Russia’s history, with only occasional historical facts.

The series was one of the top performing original comedies on the streaming service in 2020, and it only premiered less than two months ago!

Elle not only stars as Catherine the Great in the series, but she also serves as executive producer, and couldn’t hide her excitement about the news.

“I can’t hold it any longer! THE GREAT is renewed for a SEASON 2!!!!! Okay, now seriously @nicholashoult I’m going to get you this time…” she wrote on Instagram.

Elle Fanning Opens Up About Doing Comedy For The First Time In Hulu's 'The Great'

Elle Fanning is dishing on taking on a comedic role for the first time.

The 22-year-old actress stars as Catherine, The Great in the new Hulu series The Great, alongside Nicholas Hoult.

“This is the first comedy that I’ve done, so I had to learn not to feel embarrassed,” Elle told Forbes. “[I told myself], ‘Like alright, don’t be embarrassed. Be Brave. Be Catherine. Pull a face, go for it, try this wacky thing. Do things that you would never do on a regular film set.’”

“We pride ourselves on not being historically accurate,” she added about if the comedic timing changes the factual story of Catherine, The Great.

The entire first season of The Great is now streaming on Hulu!

Dakota & Elle Fanning's 'The Nightingale' Pushed Back Due to Pandemic

Elle and Dakota Fanning‘s new movie is experiencing a delay.

The World War II-based drama The Nightingale, which was expected to be released at the end of 2020, will now hit theaters on December 22, 2021 amid the global health crisis, Deadline reported on Thursday (April 30).

The real-life sisters will play on-screen sisters in the Melanie Laurent-directed story, which was adapted from the bestselling Kristin Hannah book.

Here’s a plot summary: “The Nightingale is set on the eve of World War II and follows the sisters’ struggle to survive and resist the German occupation of France. The story was inspired by the courageous women of the French Resistance who helped downed Allied airmen escape Nazi-occupied territory and hid Jewish children.”

'The Nightingale' With Elle & Dakota Fanning Has Been Pulled From Release Schedule

Elle and Dakota Fanning were all set to star in their first movie together, called The Nightingale.

But now, The Wrap reports that the movie has been pulled from the release schedule for 2020.

The Nightingale starred the real life sisters and sisters on screen, and followed them as the come of age in France on the eve of World War II and their struggle to survive the German occupation of France.

Production on the flick started in March, but was quickly stopped because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Elle and Dakota will resume filming the movie as soon as it is safe to do so.

The movie was expected to hit theaters around Christmas 2020.
