Disney/Pixar's 'Soul' Voice Cast Announced at D23!

There was so much Disney news announced at the studio’s D23 event and the voice cast for the upcoming Pixar movie Soul was among the highlights.

It was revealed that Jamie Foxx and Tina Fey will lead the cast and they were joined by co-stars Phylicia Rashad, Questlove, and Daveed Diggs at the event on Saturday (August 24) in Anaheim, Calif.

The film journeys from the streets of New York City to the never-before-seen cosmic realms and “The You Seminar,” the fantastical place where we all discover our unique personalities.

Jamie lends his voice to Joe Gardner, a middle-school band teacher whose true passion is playing jazz. Tina plays 22, a soul-in-training who has an unexpected encounter with Joe when he accidentally finds his way to the “You Seminar.” Together, the two are going to find a way to get Joe back to Earth, making him think again about what it truly means to have soul.

The movie will feature original jazz music by Jon Batiste and an original score by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, which will drift between the real and soul worlds. The film hits theaters on June 19, 2020.

This week, comedian Don Rickles passed away.

Pixar has paid tribute to Don after his passing on Thursday, with a touching post on social media from Toy Story‘s director John Lasseter.

“Don Rickles was a comic genius, and here at Pixar we were honored to also call him a friend. The wit, personality and incredible timing he brought to Mr. Potato Head lit up the character and made him an essential part of the Toy Story ensemble.”

“Even though Mr. Potato Head’s facial features fell off in every Toy Story movie, his heart never left him—that was because of Don. We will miss him tremendously.”
