Elizabeth Gillies Reveals Why She Almost Wasn't In The 'Thank U, Next' Video

Elizabeth Gillies almost didn’t make it to the “Thank U, Next” music video for a pretty painful reason!

The 25-year-old Dynasty actress just revealed that the day before the video shoot, she suffered from a spider bite on her face!

“I was like, this really, really hurts. I can’t move my face! And the morning of the shoot I woke up and was like, ‘I need to go to the dermatologist,’” Elizabeth explained, adding that her face looked “deformed.”

At the time, Elizabeth didn’t know what the massive bump was and couldn’t find a dermatologist that would see her that morning. Thankfully, Ariana‘s mom Joan helped her get an appointment.

Finally, when she was able to see a doctor, he discovered the bump was a spider bite. Liz spared the details of the “gory and horrible” procedure but said the doctor advised her not to do the video.

“He said, ‘You can’t fly tonight. You shouldn’t have flown yesterday. You shouldn’t do the video shoot. If you want to try, you can’t wear makeup.’…I immediately leave there, shove it, pack it with makeup and go to the video shoot,” Elizabeth explained.

Liz added that the bite mark was able to be edited out of the video but she did end up with a staph infection!

Check out all that Liz had to say in the video below (starting at 26:25)…

“Absolutely,” she said. “I think we should do it sooner than later because the 10-year anniversary is coming up, in 2019.” After realizing that the 10-year anniversary is actually in 2020, she added, “I made that up. Was that not right? We were thinking of from when we shot the pilot.”

“I can’t say I’m available, but I want to,” she continued. “Like, I’m literally not available ’cause I’m working, but I want to, so I’m down, pending my availability. I could make an exception for sure, for sure. I could do it, yeah.”

“Let’s do it,” she said, turning to host Zach Sang. “You should be the guy to do it because you’ve known us for the longest and you can ask the darkest questions that nobody knows about. I think it should be fun. We should eat pizza and drink, and I think it should be loose. I don’t think it should be live, not that loose, but I do think that it should happen.”

Ariana Grande and Elizabeth Gillies used to lock lips while filming Victorious!

The “God is a woman” singer and the Dynasty actress had a pretty amazing reason for kissing each other on set.

In part two of the behind-the-scenes footage of Ariana’s “Thank U, Next” music video — which Elizabeth stars in — the duo prepares to shoot the “Jingle Bell Rock” dance from Mean Girls.

Ariana and Elizabeth stand back-to-back, and Liz jokes that she’s attempting to transfer some glitter from their outfits onto her body.

“Remember when we ran out of lip gloss and kissed on Nickelodeon?” Elizabeth asks, to which Ariana replies, “I know! Guys, want to know a little-known fact?”

“When no one would hear us and we would be begging like, ‘We need a touch-up please,’ and they would be like ‘rolling,’ we would look at whoever was glossier at the moment, and to add more color, we would be like [makes kissing gesture], ‘Let’s go,’ and we would transfer the color,” Elizabeth reveals. “That happened.”

“That was really funny, I had forgot about that,” Ariana adds.
